carolina photo  Carolina De Medina ~  Painter

Carolina decided to be an artist when she entered kindergarten and discovered easels and paints.  She has since expanded into many other mediums, including print making, fresco, oil and various sculptural, collage and assemblage materials.  She has enjoyed doing many stage and costume and make-up designs, she has been the editor for several poetry/art editions and has contributed to a number of books as a writer/photographer/designer and editor.  Currently, she paints in pastel and acrylic and is particularly known for her vibrantly colored works.  Carolina paints in an expressionistic realistic style, covering a great variety of subjects.  Some of her favorites are: luscious fruits and vegetables; the rocky coasts and tide pools of Maine; exotic trees and flowers, and people of character.  Painters she greatly admires include Velasquez, Manet, Van Gogh, Matisse, JS Sargent and William Bailey.  She also loves Andy Goldsworthy.  Carolina teaches privately.  Every artistic endeavor excites and challenges her.
